NSCP Information Sharing Protocol
The Newcastle Safeguarding Children Partnership’s Information Sharing Protocol provides guidance for sharing information to safeguard children and adults with care and support needs.
It emphasises lawful, secure, and timely sharing of relevant information to identify risks, assess needs, and provide effective services. Practitioners must follow data protection laws, the Caldicott Principles, and organisational policies to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
Sharing without consent is permissible in safeguarding cases where it is justified and necessary to prevent harm. The protocol promotes multi-agency collaboration, setting out clear principles and a decision-making framework to support practitioners in safeguarding responsibilities.
