Child Death Guidance
The documents outline processes for reviewing child deaths to improve prevention and support. The Child Death Review Statutory and Operational Guidance standardises procedures in England for investigating and learning from child deaths, involving immediate actions, multi-agency reviews, family support, and the role of Child Death Overview Panels (CDOPs) to identify modifiable factors.
The Guidance on Deaths Abroad addresses the complexities of child deaths occurring outside the UK, advising CDOPs on accessing information, working with international systems, and supporting families during these challenging situations. Together, they prioritise learning, prevention, and consistent practices to safeguard children and support bereaved families.
