Black History Month: From Indentureship to Diaspora: Narratives of Migration and South Asian Identity
This free conference is hosted by the Northumbria University and North East Museums partnership, as part of Black History Month. The introduction will include an in-person gallery tour at Discovery Museum exploring permanent displays about migration to the North East and Indian Indentureship.
It explores a diverse range of research on the Indian diaspora. A key focus of the conference is on histories, genealogies, and legacies of Indian indentureship.
