NEPACS: First “Children With A Parent In Prison Day”
CHILDREN WITH A PARENT IN PRISON DAY – 25th November 2025
Children with a parent in prison face profound emotional and practical challenges, such as disrupted education, mental health struggles, and social stigma. Many are left feeling overlooked or misunderstood.
The theme of the very first Children with a parent in prison day is “HEAR ME, SEE ME”, which emphasises the importance of recognising and understanding the voices and experiences of children who are too often invisible in discussions about the justice system. The aim is to celebrate their resilience, amplify their voices, and call for greater support systems that address their specific needs.
Nepacs give children with a parent in prison the chance to share their experience of having a loved one in prison, and they work with young people and partner agencies to ensure support systems are developed to meet their needs. You can view and share two films created with young people who have a parent in prison in the north east – https://www.nepacs.co.uk/page/digital-me-children-with-a-parent-in-prison
