As part of the Year of the Adolescent this session will explore how early experiences play a crucial role in shaping a child’s brain development, emotional wellbeing, relationships, and behaviour. This session explores how experiences such as nurture, attachment, adversity, trauma, and stress can influence neurodevelopment and impact children throughout adolescence and into adulthood.
Drawing on current research and practice, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how lived experiences can affect a young person’s ability to regulate emotions, build relationships, engage in learning, and respond to challenges. The session will also consider how practitioners can use this knowledge to promote resilience, strengthen relationships, and provide effective support for adolescents.
