In Newcastle the Youth Justice Service works with children and young people aged 10 to 17 years who have offended and help prevent them getting into further trouble.
It is over seen by the Youth Justice Partnership Board (YJPB) which is chaired by the Director of Children’s Services, and includes the City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children and Young PeopleĀ alongside statutory partners such as, Police, Probation, Children’s Social Care, Health and Education. Members hold sufficient seniority to be able to commit resources and make necessary decisions.
