SUMMARY:Level Three Safeguarding Training
DESCRIPTION:The NSCP Level Three Safeguarding Children Training is aimed at:\n1. Professionals who have already completed Level One and Two Safeguarding Training and require more advanced knowledge and awareness\, for example those whose role involves contact with vulnerable children\, regularly responding to safeguarding concerns or managing staff.\n2. Professionals who require refresher Level Three Safeguarding Children Training.\n3. Professionals who work in Newcastle \nLearning Objectives\nThis session will provide an overview of the Multi-Agency Thresholds used in Newcastle to support professionals identify the right support at the right time for children\, including Early Help and Children’s Social Care. \nIt will provide an understanding of National Legislation as well as Local Updates and Policies and signposting to useful Further Information. \nProfessionals will be supported to understand the importance of Listening to the Voice of the Child\, Multi-Agency Working and Information Sharing. \nIt also covers learning on practice development including Record Keeping\, Chronologies and Referring and Escalating Concerns. \nPlease note:\nThis training is free to those who work in Newcastle. \nThis training focuses on Newcastle policies and processes so will not be suitable for those who do not work in Newcastle \nParticipants are expected to have cameras switched on throughout the training and to engage in the group work. \nPlease only book places for yourself – do not book places for colleagues or staff members.

SUMMARY:Working Systemically with Families
DESCRIPTION:This session will explore how practitioners can work more effectively with families by adopting a multisystemic approach. It will focus on understanding the wider systems that influence a family’s circumstances including family relationships\, peer groups\, schools\, communities and professional networks – and how these factors can impact engagement and outcomes. \nParticipants will have the opportunity to reflect on barriers that can make it difficult for families to engage with services and consider strategies for building stronger\, more collaborative relationships. The workshop will emphasise the importance of understanding families within their wider context and working alongside them to identify and overcome challenges. \nDrawing on principles from Multisystemic Therapy (MST)\, the session will share approaches used when working with parents and carers of adolescents. However\, the learning will be relevant to all practitioners who work with children\, young people\, parents and carers\, regardless of service area or role.

SUMMARY:Exploitation Awareness
DESCRIPTION:Target Audience \n\n\nThose working or volunteering with children or adults with care and support needs who may be in a position to identify concerns of exploitation. Including: support workers\, housing staff\, teachers\, college staff\, GP’s\, nurses\, paramedics\, clerical and admin staff\, advocates\, midwives\, staff working in supported accommodation.  At the end of the course participants should: \n\n\n\n\nUnderstand the local\, national and global scale of exploitation.\nKnow what is meant by the term exploitation and the different forms it can take.\nBe aware of who might be at increased risk of exploitation and some of the circumstances that can place people at risk.\nBe aware of the coercive and controlling methods used by exploiters used to recruit and control victims.\nBe able to recognise the signs and indicators of exploitation.\nBe aware of the impact of exploitation on the person’s ability to trust\, communicate and share information.\nBe aware of the impact of immigration status on the person’s ability to trust\, communicate and share information.\nRecognise immediate safety (of the person at risk\, others and yourself) as a key priority around any concern.\nKnow what information to record and ensure relevant details are gathered.\nKnow the importance of avoiding using victim-blaming language.\nKnow how to report a safeguarding concern using either your organisation’s or multi-agency safeguarding procedures.\nKnow how to report intelligence about exploitation to the Police.\nUnderstand information sharing considerations and the situations when you might need to share information without consent.\nUnderstand your own role and the limits of your knowledge and capabilities and know when to seek specialist advice or support.\nUnderstand the basics of the National Referral Mechanism\, what it is and how it is used.\nUnderstand the impact of identifying a victim of exploitation and know how to access support for yourself or others who need emotional support after identification.\n\nBook Now
