SUMMARY:Rethink Formulation Half-Day Face-to-Face Workshops
DESCRIPTION:When working with families\, services can get into a pattern of assessments and short term interventions that end when there have been improvements. However\, families often need help again. Rethink Formulation uses an evidence based model of case formulation to help us organise information and structure our conversations to reach a shared understanding of a family and their presenting issues\, from which we can base our plans. This formulation can travel with the family into different services\, and should reduce the number of assessments they have by providing an effective way to analyse the information we already have about their strengths and needs. Rethinking what we know about a family\, and what we then do with that knowledge\, is key to working with that family in a restorative and sustainable way. \nThis is a half day of intensive coaching in the art of formulation and will provide a solid base for continuous learning about the Rethink Formulation model. You will learn what the Rethink model is\, the theory behind it and be given the opportunity to experience and practice using the model. \nFor further information or to book a place click on the link below… \nCourse: Rethink Formulation Half day Workshop (iLearn live) (learningpool.com) \nPlease Note: if you do not have access to iLearn LMS please complete attached booking form and return to wfdadmin@newcastle.gov.uk

SUMMARY:Restorative Practice Awareness
DESCRIPTION:Restorative Practice is a proactive strength based approach that reinforces the importance of building and maintaining positive relationships by seeking to understand the needs of the people in your community. In this session we will look at the pro-active behaviours and skills that you already use in your practice\, to create these long-lasting relationships\, as well as reflect on how your actions and attitudes can influence and change relationship dynamics. By the end of the session you will be able to map your practices against the ‘Four ways of being’ model\, and begin to reflect on how you can start to encourage and empower others using high challenge and high support. You will have a greater understanding of techniques that can be used to build connections and community\, for example ‘Check in circles.’ \nIf you are interested in attending any of these courses please email wfdadmin@newcastle.gov.uk\nFor all other queries about Restorative and Relational Practice in Newcastle- email relationalpracticeleads@newcastle.gov.uk

SUMMARY:Children's Society: Financial Exploitation
DESCRIPTION:The Financial Exploitation of children and young people is not new\, however it is emerging as a growing concern\, particularly in relation to children being tricked\, coerced\, and forced into financial crime. This includes being targeted by an individual or an Organised Crime Group\, who exploit children and young people to commit fraud and launder criminal funds through their bank accounts. This is a form of Child Criminal Exploitation. \nChild Exploitation is Child Abuse. Financial exploitation can cause significant harm to a young person and have long lasting effects on their life. It can also be connected to other harms including child sexual abuse/exploitation. Yet despite this\, the financial exploitation of children and young people is not well understood and can often be overlooked. \nAt The Children’s Society\, we are developing our understanding of financial exploitation and advocating for professionals to view it as a specific harm type unto itself\, as well as understanding its context within and connection to other forms of exploitation and abuse. In this session for all professionals interacting with children and young people we will: \n\nExplore recent learning and emerging insights on the financial exploitation of children and young people.\nShare experiences from The Children’s Society’s national Prevention Programme’s work alongside learning from partners including law enforcement\, social care\, and the banking and finance sector.\nConsider the implications of our findings with regards to safeguarding young people from harm and preventing their exploitation.\nCreate an interactive opportunity to hear about how other professionals are responding to this emerging area.\nProvide a space to consider your own ability to identify and respond to Financial Exploitation and contribute to The Children’s Society’s evidence gathering and research on this topic.\n\nTo book click here: #LookCloser: Financial Exploitation Tickets\, Thu\, Jul 17\, 2025 at 10:00 AM | Eventbrite
