SUMMARY:Strengthening Safeguarding in Practice: Understanding the National Panel’s Priorities
DESCRIPTION:This briefing session is delivered by Dr. Sarah Raistrick\, member of the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel (CSPRP). This session will explore the four key safeguarding priorities identified by the CSPRP\, bringing together national learning from child safeguarding reviews to support stronger practice. Designed for frontline practitioners and managers\, the session will focus on what these priorities mean in real terms\, helping you to recognise risk\, reflect on practice\, and strengthen multi-agency working. You’ll gain practical insight into how learning from reviews can be applied in your role in relation to: \nVulnerable Babies: Focuses on improving how professionals identify and respond to risks faced by infants\, particularly under 1\, who are disproportionately represented in serious incidents. \nNeglect: Explores how cumulative harm and long-term neglect can be overlooked or normalised in practice. \nBlack\, Asian and Mixed Heritage Children: Highlights the importance of understanding how race\, culture\, and structural inequalities can shape children’s experiences and impact safeguarding responses. \nSafeguarding Children Not in School: Looks at risks faced by children who are missing the protective oversight of education\, including those not on school rolls or in irregular attendance.
