Emergency Alert: Domestic Abuse Survivor Devices – Opt Out
Emergency Alerts is a UK government system that provides warning and advice in a life threatening emergency.
The Government have announced their next Emergency Alert test will take place on Sunday 7th September 2025 at 3 pm.
The first Emergency Alerts test took place in April 2023. At the time the national charity Refuge raised concerns relating to survivors of domestic abuse with a hidden phone needing to have the option to ‘opt out’ of receiving the alerts on hidden devices. The messaging remains the same: if survivors have hidden devices, we should support them to opt out of the test.
